New York city is about to open up more registers and hotels to American Hotel Register and American Cuisinart registrations, the hotel chain said on Tuesday.
The move follows the US government’s announcement earlier this month that it would open a second register for the city, where a large number of US hotels have closed due to the pandemic.
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said on Monday that the new register will allow for more information on the contents of hotel rooms, including food and water supplies.
Cuisinart said it will also allow customers to register for hotel reservations through the new registration.
“We have been working closely with our hotels partners to ensure we can meet the needs of the hotel industry as well as the needs and the safety of our guests,” said Zelle CEO and President Brian P. Hickey.
“This initiative will allow us to better meet the growing demand from hotel guests.”
The city has a population of about 22.5 million, with an average hotel room in New York costing about $1,300 (£1,400).
The US government has been asking the city for up to 15,000 additional hotel rooms in the coming months.
